           Wellness Advocate | Visionary Leader

Jennifer Buergermeister is a visionary leader in wellness education, a dedicated advocate for truth, and mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. She is also a multifaceted professional in branding, journalism, and nonprofit leadership. Jenny has devoted her career to educating youth and adults on the transformative benefits of exercise, breathwork, and contemplative practices. She has pioneered wellness initiatives through organizations such as Jennyoga, the Texas Yoga Association and Texas Yoga Conference, and Breathe the Cure, shaping the mindfulness community in Texas and beyond.

Her advocacy for yoga in Texas led to the passage of key legislation, including Senate Bill 1176, which protected yoga teacher training programs from unnecessary state regulation, ensuring the practice remained accessible and diverse. Jennifer’s influence and leadership extends to collaborating with esteemed institutions like MD Anderson Cancer Center, the Houston Independent School District, PwC, United Against Human Trafficking, and the Yoga Alliance, Citizens’ Environmental Coalition (CEC), The Jewish Community Center, The Houstonian, among others.

An accomplished academic, Jennifer holds dual degrees from the University of Houston in Psychology and Journalism. She later earned a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science (MS) in Strategic Brand Management from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and completed a Master of Legal Studies (MLS) specializing in Intellectual Property and Contract Law at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.

Jennifer’s contributions to the field of wellness include authoring The FUNdamentals of Breathing and Yoga Activities and Adventures, produced in collaboration with Yoginos: Yoga for Youth® and the Crow Collection of Asian Art Museum in Dallas. She has also developed yoga education content, including two DVDs available on Amazon. In addition, she has played a vital role in integrative health education, assisting with the annual Yoga for Health Training at Friends of Integrative Medicine (FIM) at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Jenny has also a published two additional books available on Amazon:

– Voices: Experience, Emotion and Empathy A thought-provoking exploration of human experience through the lens of emotion and empathy.

–  Space Planning for Health Care Design A comprehensive guide on designing health care spaces for optimal functionality and well-being.

A passionate educator and consultant, she teaches for-credit health and wellness courses at Rice University and psychology courses at The College of Health Care Professions. With expertise spanning strategic leadership, economics, intellectual property, and nonprofit management, Jennifer continues to merge business acumen with holistic well-being, advocating for accessible and evidence-based wellness education while fostering an inclusive, forward-thinking community.

She resides in Houston, TX with her husband, four dogs, two cats, and two parrots, where she continues to champion mind-body wellness, animal advocacy, and human innovation while inspiring the next generation of leaders in health and human potential and critical thinking, directing the Journalism program at Bellaire HS.
