Jennifer Buergermeister – Animal Advocate, Branding Anaylst, Writer, Lecturer/Adjunct, Yogini
Hello, and thank you for stopping by my blog. I absolutely love to write and share concepts pertaining to psychology, relationships, yoga, and well-being. I am a journalist and program director who writes screenplays and articles for various blog sites, newspapers, and magazines. I also founded Breathe the Cure, Inc. which facilitates programs for children and adults supporting the vision for wellness and founded Jennyoga and the Texas Yoga Conference.
I hold college degrees from the University of Houston – B.S. Psychology with an emphasis in Biology, minor in Anthropology; and B.A Journalism, minor Speech Communication – and later graduated from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP)/Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA, with a Masers in Transpersonal Psychology.
In 2014, I completed a one-year program at Rice University studying Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. In 2017, I completed an MBA/MS duo from The Gies Business School at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign specializing in Strategic Brand Management, Business Strategy, and Economics. Realizing Intellectual Property is also a huge consideration in branding, I then completed a Master of Legal Studies degree at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
I immensely enjoy creative endeavors and have a love for knowledge as a whole. I think the more that we begin to explore our world and mindsets, we begin to realize that we know nothing at all, which is as humbling as looking up at the stars at night and pondering the universe…ahhhh, an antidote to narcissism. (Thank you, awesome man, in the Randall’s parking lot in Bellaire for sharing your daughter’s story with me one night as you caught me looking up at the captivating sky in awe of Venus shining brightly with the moon!)
Learning broadly creates greater awarenesses to heal the roots of our upbringing, traditions, cultures, and business and leadership models that infiltrate our societies and countries.. Consciousness is universal and omnipresent. The Earth too suffers when we are psychologically fragmented – individually and collectively.
I began practicing yoga in 1992 and have studied Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, Forrest, and Ayurveda + South Indian martial arts yoga with Swami Vidyadhishananda Giri, David Williams, Robert Boustany, Jonny Kest, Shiva Rea, John Friend, Ana Forrest and Scott Blossom respectfully. In many ways, yoga became my life, a huge part of me. That is why the “y” is shared in Jennyoga.
I am blessed to teach three undergraduate courses at Rice University, and three psychology courses at the College of Health Care Professions. I also taught two online courses in Neurobiology and Biomechanics for design graduate students at Boston Architectural College, and Yogic Philosophy at Emery Weiner Upper School for two years. I co-authored a children’s book called the FUNdamentals of Breathing and Yoga released in 2012 and have released two DVDs found on Amazon.
I have given public presentations at the Gulf Coast Green Conference, YMCA, Pennzoil Oil Co, Dow Chemical, Price WaterHouseCooper, Jewish Women’s Federation, Unity Church, Incarnate Word, Texas Yoga Conference, Om Vibrations, Yoga Month Health Festival 2008 in Austin, Telluride Yoga Festival, Interfaith Ministries, Yoga Round-up, the Yoga Alliance Leadership Conference, YOUniverSoul, and Yoga for Health Training Conference. I also taught classes or courses at the Houston JCC, The Houstonian, The Good Space, Tomball College, Hadassah, Montrose Yoga Co-op, Rice University, Define: Body and Mind, and Beth Israel.
