jen at valley of fireHello, and thank you for stopping by my blog.  I absolutely love to write and share concepts pertaining to psychology, relationships, yoga, and well-being. I am a journalist and program director who writes screenplays and articles for various blog sites, newspapers, and magazines. I also founded Breathe the Cure, Inc. which facilitates programs for children and adults supporting the vision for wellness and founded Jennyoga and the Texas Yoga Conference. After graduating in 1999 with honors from the University of Houston with a double degree – B.S. Psychology with emphasis in Biology, minor in Anthropology and B.A Journalism, minor Speech Communication – I later graduated from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP)/Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA, and holds a MA in Transpersonal Psychology and an MBA from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

“Traditional psychology is interested in a continuum of human experience and behavior ranging from severe dysfunction, mental and emotional illness at one end, to what is generally considered “normal”, healthy behavior at the other end and various degrees of normal and maladjustment in between. While an exact definition of Transpersonal Psychology is the subject of debate, Transpersonal Psychology is a full spectrum psychology that encompasses all of this and then goes beyond it by adding a serious scholarly interest in the immanent and transcendent dimensions of human experience: exceptional human functioning, experiences, performances and achievements, true genius, the nature and meaning of deep religious and mystical experiences, non-ordinary states of consciousness, and how we might foster the fulfillment of our highest potentials as human beings.” -ITP

In 2014, I also completed a one-year program in 2013 at Rice University studying Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
